Jane Goodner
English Specialist I

  • Jane taught English for 30 years.  She started the Advanced Placement program®  in Baytown in 1989 in Literature and Composition-this class grew from 12 students to over 100 students in eight years.
  • She has helped to develop the first AP®/Pre-AP®  English vertical team in Texas and continues to help other districts build their vertical teams.
  • As a College Board AP English consultant, Jane has trained teachers in Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
  • Since 1992 she has worked as an AP English consultant or the English lead consultant in week-long AP summer institutes at SMU, UTSA, TAMIU at Laredo, Goose Creek CISD, Texas City CISD, Victoria Region III, Southwest Texas, TCU, TLU, and Rice.
  • In 1998, she was awarded the Advanced Placement™ Special Recognition Award by the Southwest Region of the College Board.
  • Jane is experienced in writing English curriculum, district-wide grading standards, research guidelines, course guides, scope and sequence, and AP and Gifted and Talented curriculum.
  • She has served as a reader for the AP Literature and Composition Exam since 1995.
  • Jane earned a Master of Education in Gifted and Talented Education from the University of Houston in 1991.  She received her BA in English and History from Sam Houston University in 1964.
