Doris Sanders
English Specialist IV
- Doris taught for 27 years in Texas public school systems.
- She taught, at various times, Pre-AP* , Gifted, Dyslexia, and Regular Language Arts; Creative Writing; Social Studies; TAAS Remediation; Title I Reading; and English as a Second Language.
- She was Language Arts Department Chair and TAAS Coordinator at Cedar Bayou Junior School in Baytown.
- Doris taught at Lamar University, San Jacinto Community College, and Lee College.
- She received the Teaching Excellence Award presented by Southwest Bank of Texas and the Baytown Sun in 2002.
- Doris was named to Who's Who among Teachers in America in 2004 and 2005.
- She contributed to A Lighthouse Initiative for Language Arts Teachers , published by the Texas Education Agency in cooperation with the Southwestern Regional Office, College Board, 2000.
- Doris also contributed to Laying the Foundation® : A Resource and Planning Guide for Pre-AP ® English , published by AP Strategies™, 2004.
- Doris has been a lead presenter for Advanced Placement Summer Institutes, Pre-AP* Middle School English, since 1998.
- She has a B.S. degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a M.A. from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and is certified as an Alphabetic Phonics Therapist.
