Laying the Foundation
Teachers' Guides for Pre-AP* Math
Created in 2003 by master teachers, the guides are designed to teach students the skills they need in grades 6-11 in order to pass AP* Calculus and Statistics exams.
Each guide is designed to help the teacher connect what is currently being taught in mathematics classes to the skills, concepts, and assessment strategies that will increase student success in AP mathematics classes and other advanced coursework. In addition, the guides are aligned to the TEKS to increase TAKS scores.
Districts across Texas are using the guides as the basic tools for their Math Vertical Teams.
The guides include the following:
- Sample concept development charts for grades 6-11
- Sample lessons
- Vertical Team activities
