Carolyn began teaching mathematics at Plano Senior High School in 1978 and became department chair in 1984.

Taught BC calculus for 16 years and AB calculus for 3 years with a 95% pass rate and with approximately 60% 5s. She taught calculus to more than 500 students.

As a member of the Mathematics of Change Team for the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, she presented workshops throughout the country during the summers of 1994-1998.

Carolyn received the Advanced Placement™ Special Recognition Award from the College Board Southwestern Region in 1995 and received the Teaching Excellence Award from the Plano Independent School District in 1999.

She worked on a grant from the Dana Foundation to write fine arts units for the Texas high school course-Mathematical Modeling with Applications, 2000-2001. .

Carolyn grew up in Pasadena, Texas and graduated from the University of North Texas in 1965 with a BA in mathematics with a minor in music.
